Taking you as low as you go...

My own stupidness led me to break the no-carb rule yesterday. Gah. Like a dummy, I took my full shot of insulin on Sunday night without even thinking that I'd be eating no carbs all day Monday. Needless to say, I got a little low.

I was actually fine until I started driving home from work. The low blood sugar mixed with the molten hot afternoon weather made for an interesting 10 minute drive home, to say the least. I got this weird dizzy highness that I've only felt one other time before, in an incident I like to call "The Dentist's Office, 1997." The ceiling tiles started dancing around and I freaked out and ripped the mask thing off my face and started mumbling some junk about not liking it and I swore off the gas forever! SuperNerd.

Luckily I didn't do anything stupid yesterday like crash or die. I found some LifeSavers in the center console and took care of business even though they were all chewy and melty and weird. Another victim of the Las Vegas heat, but at least they helped. I got home and had some juice and all was well again. Still...pretty stupid. Rookie mistake!

I cut my dosage in half last night so we'll see how today fares. I got my emergency hard candies crammed in the bottom of my purse now like a true elderly-lady-about-town. Whatevs...gots to do what we gots to do.

Sounds like a scene from Steel Magnolias.

It's gotta be tough to plan ahead with your dosages. I'm glad you are O.K.!

Hey, better to cheat on the diet a little than pass out. Just be better prepared next time.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that doesn't think things through anymore. I think it is stress...thank God for the lifesavers...gooey and all.

Yikes!

Although, I kinda want to go to my dentist now and tell him to gas me up.

I love it when the Lifesavers get all gooey.

I have been there Tricia and it's no fun. Since I have lost some weight I have been able to reduce my dosage 75%!

That is funny you feel like an old lady with those in your purse. I have glucose tablets in mine and they make me feel like an old lady too.

Cheers to the day neither one of us has to do the stupid shots anymore!

My Granny always kept hard candies in her purse too. Butterscotch and peppermints. Please don't tell me you wear knee highs with dresses. :)

Is there a market for recreational insulin usage?

I think you should shove a juice box in your purse too--because according to my extensive knowledge of diabetes (consisting of repeated viewings of Steel Magnolias), juice is a great way to normalize your blood sugar...

Glad you stopped the big dizzies!

I have SO had to eat the old melted life savers from the car...they truely are life savers! Maybe you need a survival kit...which will also have to have neosporin in it. I don't think you could eat it, but might need it if you manage to fall down and hurt yourself. :) Just a suggestion.
