The touch of your hand makes my pulse react...

So we had YET ANOTHER potluck today. Because it's been like a whole two weeks since the last one, right? Feeders! Food-pushers! I'm surrounded :(

It was a Taco Bar potluck. Lots of bullshit I would love to dive into face-first...but...le sigh...shouldn't. And didn't! If deprivation were an Olympic sport, then today, I would have taken gold. It's always REALLY surprising to me when I can just steer clear. It's a very new feeling not to succumb to, at the very LEAST, a 3:00 cookie or seven.

I know, I know, it's all about moderation, not deprivation, but well...I'm not there yet. I dunno if I'll ever be there, but one thing I do know is that I'm not there yet. One cookie opens up the entire night to the "fuck it" attitude, and then I'm laying in bed hours later wallowing in Snickers wrappers and regret.

But today...I had a plan, see?

I can have a taco. I just can't have THOSE tacos. Greasy fatty spicy (oh so delicious) ground beef that's been sitting in a crock pot in it's own fat becoming more and more awesome as hours go by, hey, I don't need that shit...I got......oh, chicken.

And and and...I got low-carb tortillas!

So I made my own damn taco. I even stole their lettuce and tomato and the teeniest tiniest bit of shredded cheese...

Then I ate one of these...

And ended the night with this:

Me and cookies have an Ike and Tina type relationship. Today I'm giving it the ol' one-finger salute and telling it to 'get the fuck out muh face.' But tomorrow, I could be back! Begging Ida Mae for forgiveness and saying that I only hurt it because I love it! Hopefully not though. This is one toxic relationship I could live without...if only it wasn't the obvious talent in this relationship.

Be strong, Tina. What's love got to do with it, remember??

The answer is nothing, by the way. In case you were still wondering...

I loved that last picture!!

I may have posted about this before, but the Beck diet book has really helped me. It's about tackling the thoughts that lead to cravings. Check it out.

It seems harsh, but that's just the way it's gotta be when you're trying to build up some momentum. It's always been a very empowering feeling to me to be able to say "no" to cookies or donuts in the break room. If you can power through this rough patch, I think you'll find that the power these foods hold over you will wane. That's the way it worked out for me anyway.

You're doing terrific. Keep it up!

It's always hard to flip off the ones we love, especially when they're in cookie or taco form.

You're kicking some serious ass. Word.

That's exactly how to dump a girlfriend/boyfriend - tell them to fuck off- and act like they aren't even in the room. (I get that alot! Especially lately.)
You are breaking up with cookies!

I know they say all things in moderation...but not with me either. I could eat one OR 19...not sure that is safe. So I say NO! Just like Nancy Reagan.

Ok I gotta tell you how PROUD I am of you for your chicken & tortilla!!! I am shedding a tear!!! :) HIGH 5 my friend! I am SO happy that you ate your healthy meal! :) Whooohoooo!

Congrats on the gold medal of resistance! So smart to BYOT. I gotta start giving the one finger salute to cookies, too. I just found out my scale is off by 10 lbs. Stupid sub-par hunk o'crap.

You are doing so great, and I expect you to continue to do so, young lady (you'll just have to imagine the finger shake that went with that statement).

Yah! Best picture ever, giving the finger to the cookies. LMAO!

Cookies are my biggest downfall [next to booze] so i totaly understand that hand gesture!
Tacos are ok, surely. I have mine with a bit of mince, tomato, lettuce, cheese and sweet chili sause. I always thought that was kinda healthy [even if i ate 6 lol]

Re: the birds nests, i just mix melted chocolate with broken [raw] rice noodles. I wouldn't eat them as they are too chewy, but the kids like them.

I swear, your finger looks thinner than the last time you posted a "bird" picture!

Great job making the tacos work for you!!!

Go Tricia! Go Tricia! Those cookies never treated you right anyway. Look at what they did to you! It was an awesome idea to make your own healthified taco, by the way.
