I didn't do it.

I've been talking to my therapist a lot about how I blame myself often for things that aren't my fault. Like it's my fault the world seems to have a problem with my fat body. She says it's ingrained from having a dad who always went out of his way to make me feel like I ruined his life just by existing...and I can agree that probably is where it initially stemmed from.

But as I was leaving her office today, she said "Just for today, try pretending that NOTHING is your fault. Just try it."

Is it weird that it kinda makes me wanna rob a convenience store? Wouldn't be my fault, is all I'm saying.

This sounds like a great exercise for anyone to consider. Just for today, nothing is my fault.
I like it!

I like the way you think.

But seriously, if you are in that convenience store, could you grab me a bag of "carmel-flavored Bugles"? I know that is one of those reasons that the terrorists hate us, but they are insanely awesome.

(don't you people judge me!)

Have you ever considered stand up comedy Tricia? I think you would be awesome!

I think she just gave you the ultimate permission slip. Jealous.

This gives you all kind of permission to do things. Float a biscuit? Not your fault. :)

Your therapist sounds like a smart woman, I hope she's helping you. Anyway, I am not very good at offering helpful sentiments, but I love reading your blog, I think you're fabulous and I hope you start feeling better about yourself soon.

damn right you didn't do... so what are you choosing not to do then?? better be good

It isn't your fault. The therapist is totally spot on. The way that your father treated you is HIS problem. You are a good person, Tricia. Please realize this and don't beat yourself up anymore. :-)

Katie J suggested stand up. One time someone said the same to me but I told him it would have to be sit down stand up. I'd get too tired standing there.

Did you go too far with this "Not my fault" thing and are now in jail? I've always wondered about jail.

Write about jail.

Of course that only means something if you are a Monty Python fan.

Can you still blog if you're in jail?

Thank you for sharing your personal story (I guess that is what blogging is all about). I am sorry you feel guilt about your body. I am sorry that our society is fat phobic and being fat is one of the only things you can still publicly make fun of (via movies, tv, etc.). I think we all buy into it at some level and I think it is time to just say "screw off!"
Fat isn't unhealthy (as the real research tells us)and the only reason the medical community, fitness community, health community and all others say it is is because they are ignorant lemmings following the trend of fatty fears.
I hope you are feeling happy soon.

Now i'm drinking a cup of coffee and eating some sort of trailmix bar.

Your blog is one of my favorites. I am an American teacher who lives overseas (Japan). I relate to your story and adore your sense of humor. I hope you are okay and come back soon, okay? I need a chuckle or two before a new school year begins. Or, we can offer support if you need that as well.

We have such a odd situation existentially speaking. We have responcibility in our freedom for ourselves (and to some extent others)

Yet at the same time we need to act with limited information and understanding as well as not really knowing how much power (or lack there of) that we can really weild.

I struggle with it, I think most people do... it's bizzare and confusing but it's an adventure. Sometimes a nightmare.

But remember at the Foolsfitness Gym we only play the calm Ice Cream man truck carosel music over the loud speakers. It's like disney land... except for that huge rodent infestation. That mickey mouse is some kind of mutant... Have you seen the size of that rat next to people!!! But I digress...

A Foolsfitness be well...- Alan
